Hiking/camping around Crested Butte

Image
This week I spent three nights with Jennifer and Miles and Barb, a friend of Jennifers, camping in crested Butte off of Kebler pass. We did two hikes one of 10 miles and about 1500 feet of elevation gain and the second one with 9 miles and about 1800 feet of elevation game. The first night we were there we had a visitor in the way of a moose cow walked through our campsite, which was very exciting for all of us. I got a 12 mile walk in the saturday before our camping trip and another 10 miles today, so about 40 miles+ in last 8 days! I think I’m ready for the Camino 😀

What is the Camino de Santiago?

This journey is not merely a trek – it’s a profound  spiritual voyage ! The captivating tale behind this pilgrimage is truly remarkable. Imagine this: the remains of the  Apostle St. James the Great  are believed to rest within the majestic Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. This extraordinary find dates back to a shepherd in the 9th century. Even more fascinating is the city’s name,  Santiago de Compostela , which is a homage to St. James, translating to ‘St. James of the Field of Stars.’ Exploring the  Camino’s storied heritage  ...

Training day

This was really just a training day hiking 12 1/2 miles total. 2 1/2 miles with Gracie this morning and then 10 this afternoon.   My goal is to get to 70 miles/week before making the trip to Spain.  Currently doing 45-50 miles/week so a little ways to go! 😀 I am so blessed to be able to do this, making the miles, being in God’s creation and enjoying life!
